On 9th May, the joint meeting of cooperation between Zhejiang University- University of Edinburgh Institute (ZJE) and the Second Affiliated hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine (SAHZU) was successfully held in Jiefang road, at the Second Affiliated hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine.

The ZJE participants were Dean Hongwei Ouyang, Vice Dean Linrong Lu, Vice Dean Ye Chen and more than 20 ZJE faculty. The SAHZU participants were Honorary Director of Oncology Institute Shu Zheng, Assistant Dean Xinyang Hu, Director of Oncology Institute Xiaofang Yu, Chief of Oncology Ying Yuan, Director of Orthopaedic Zhaoming Ye, and more than 20 clinical doctors from orthopaedics, oncology, hematology, cardiovascular medicine and other departments. The main topic of the meeting was how to carry out cooperative research on the pathogenesis and treatment of diseases.

Assistant Dean of SAHZU Xinyang Hu extended a warm welcome to the guests from ZJE and made a brief introduction to the development, medical level and medical team of SAHZU. Hu discussed that SAHZU has carried out multi-disciplinary and multi-project collaborations with many international institutions, and he looked forward to further cooperation and development with ZJE and the University of Edinburgh. Dean Hongwei Ouyang of ZJE spoke on the basic situation of ZJE, stressing that both sides can jointly explore practical cooperation models, go beyond performance orientation, and deeply integrate culture, systems and other aspects to seek common goals.

After that, researchers from both parties discussed possible cooperative research ideas based on their respective research fields and interests. SAHZU doctors are intrigued by the innovative research being carried out by researchers of ZJE, and the extensive clinical experience of SAHZU also impressed ZJE.

This meeting is an important step to implement strategic cooperation between ZJE and SAHZU. Through this meeting, the two sides have enhanced mutual understanding, clarified their needs and laid the groundwork for further cooperation. After the meeting, both sides agreed to further explore ways and mechanisms for cooperation, innovate models and achieve coordinated development.
