Richard Fitzpatrick, who just completed his PhD in the Stefan lab, won a Commendation for Innovation at this year's Alison Douglas Dissertation Prize. You may have met Richard when he came to Haining to do some teaching as part of his career development PhD programme. His dissertation was about using computational modelling to understand biological systems. As part of this, he created the ambitious and highly acclaimed neuroscience outreach project NeuronSafari (https://www.neuronsafari.com/), a tour of the human brain in the computer game Minecraft. The Alison Douglas Prize is awarded every year to the best dissertation at the Centre for Discovery Brain Sciences, University of Edinburgh.
Congratulations to Richard Fitzpatrick!
