About the Institute

Zhejiang University-University of Edinburgh Institute(ZJE) is established by two world-leading universities, Zhejiang University (2023 QS Ranking: 42) and the University of Edinburgh (2023 QS Ranking: 15), at the new International Campus in Haining, China. Building on the existing strengths of both, the Institute aims to foster collaborations in teaching and research, explore interdisciplinary research, and be committed to frontier basic and applied research in life sciences. ZJE has a core facility(composed of FACS core, imaging core, histology core, biochemistry core and bioinformatics core etc.), a laboratory animal facility and an information data platform to provide strong research support .

The discipline direction of ZJE mainly includes:

1.Cellular Biology

2.Stem Cell Biology

4. Cancer, Immunology and Infection

 

Researchers with experience of antimicrobial drug resistance and cell biology (single-cell RNA sequencinggenomics, epigenomics, spatial omics, proteomics and imaging to achieve multimodal measurements of individual cellular phenotypes and genotype are welcome. 

 

We are looking for: 

Top Scholars

Position: Chief scientist and Director of research centers. Post holders will be appointed as Qiushi Chair Professor, Zhejiang University.

Qualification: Well-known scholars, academicians and highly-cited scholars in the field of biomedical sciences and clinical transformation research and who have the ability to lead the development of disciplines.

Work and Living Conditions:

1.       Internationally competitive salary in accordance with Qiushi Chair Professors(ZJU) standard;

2.       RMB 8 million of start-up fund and 300m²+ of lab and office space;

3.       Support for research team building, including assistance in PI recruitment, and uncapped number of postdocs and postgraduate candidates;

4.       Adjunct faculty position at The University of Edinburgh after evaluation;

5.       Rental of fully-furnished apartment, plus purchase of an on-campus Hainshire house/apartment at a preferential rate.

 

Leading Talent

Position: Tenured professor and Executive director of research centers. Post holders will be appointed as Qiushi Distinguished Professor, Zhejiang University.

Qualification: Associate professor or above in world-renowned universities and successful applicants of national talent programmes, who have the ability to lead a research team to carry out innovative projects.

Work and Living Conditions:

1.       Internationally competitive salary in accordance with Qiushi Distinguished Professors(ZJU) standard;

2.       RMB 5 million of start-up fund and 200m²+ of lab and office space;

3.       Support for research team building, including assistance in PI recruitment, and uncapped number of postdocs; minimum one postgraduate student recruitment quota per year in the first three years;

4.       Adjunct faculty position at The University of Edinburgh after evaluation;

5.       Rental of fully-furnished apartment, plus purchase of an on-campus Hainshire house/apartment at a preferential rate.

 

Outstanding Talent

Position: Tenured/tenure-track associate professor or tenure-track assistant professor.

Qualification: Tenured/tenure-track associate professor: assistant professor or above in world renowned universities and successful applicants of national young talent programmestenured-track assistant professor: Young talents under 40 years old who have at least 3 years of postdoctoral research experience, show academic potential and are competitive in application of national and provincial talent programmes.

Work and Living Conditions:

1.       RMB 400,000+ of annual salary commensurate with qualifications;

2.       RMB 3 million+ of start-up fund for assistant professors and RMB 4 million+ of start-up fund for associate professor, sufficient lab and office space provided based on research needs;

3.       Assistance in application of talent programmes and research fund via the University and municipal departments, and provision of matching fund;

4.       One postgraduate student recruitment quota per year in the first three years;

5.       Adjunct faculty position at The University of Edinburgh after evaluation;

6.       Rental of fully-furnished apartment, plus purchase of an on-campus Hainshire  house/apartment at a preferential rate.

 

Young Talent

Postdoctoral fellow

Qualification: Candidates are those who have obtained doctoral degree in recent 3 years and have certain independent work ability.

Work and Living Conditions: 

1.       RMB 300,000 + of annual salary for qualified applicants jointly provided by the institute/university and Haining municipal government, plus RMB 150,000 or 200,000 of start-up fund; 

2.       Up to RMB 500,000 of annual salary for successful applicants of the National Innovation Grant for Postdocs or International Postdoctoral Exchange Fellowship ProgramTalent-Introduction Program

3.       Recommendation to tenure/tenure-track position at ZJU upon completion of postdoctoral work for outstanding postdoctoral fellows. 

4.       Eligible for Haining local employment support of RMB 300,000 in total in three years, plus cash subsidy equivalent to 40m² of the commodity housing purchased locally for the first time.
