The late stage of autophagy

Prof. Yueguang Rong

School of Basic Medicine, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology

In 2012, Prof. Yueguang Rong got his PhD training from Tsinghua University in Dr. Li Yu’s lab, and then did his postdoctoral research at UT Southwestern Medical Center in America with Dr. Qing Zhong (2012-2017). He moved back to Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and was appointed as the director of pathology department in 2018. He was supported by Overseas High-level Young Talents Project, the Major Research Plan and General Program of NSFC. His research works was published in Nature Cell Biology, Journal of Cell Biology, PNAS, Trends Cell Biology and Autophagy. His primary research interests focus on the late stage of autophagy including autophagic lysosome reformation (ALR), autophagosomal components recycling (ACR) and autophagosome-lysosome fusion and the related physiological/pathological functions. He dissected the spinster, clathrin and PI (4,5) P2 related mechanism for autophagic lysosome reformation (ALR). Recently, he discovered a novel cellular process and identified the ‘RECYCLER’ complex for ACR.
