Deepening cooperation, jointly promoting development—Zhejiang University-University of Edinburgh Institute and Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University Faculty of Science successfully held a bilateral academic exchange event

On May 9, 2024, the delegation from Zhejiang University-University of Edinburgh Institute (ZJE) visited the Faculty of Science at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) for in-depth discussions on academic research, educational issues, and signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. The memorandum outlined diversified cooperation in the fields of international talent cultivation, scientific research, and discipline construction to promote mutual benefit and co-development between the two institutions.

 


Professor Yuehai Ke, Dean of ZJE, and Professor Adam Cross, Assistant Vice President of XJTLU, signed the Memorandum of Cooperation. Professor Ke expressed sincere gratitude to the XJTLU faculty and students for their participation in the exchange and introduced the basic situation and development plan of ZJE. He emphasized the many similarities between ZJE and XJTLU in international cooperation and looked forward to future collaboration. Professor Adam Cross warmly welcomed the visit by the ZJE delegation and expressed expectations for the upcoming strategic cooperation in research and education.

 


During the academic exchange session, ten faculty representatives from ZJE and XJTLU presented academic reports on their respective research fields. Representatives from ZJE's four research centers, Wanlu Liu, Aaron Irving, Zhi Hong, and Yuan Yuan, introduced the current research areas and characteristics of ZJE's achievements, attracting many XJTLU faculty and students to participate. Professor John Moraros, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Professor Sekar Raju, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Science, Professor Jia Meng, Head of the Department of Biological Sciences, Dr. Eric Amigues, Acting Department Head of the Chemistry Department, Associate Professor Mikael Bjorklund, Assistant to the Dean of ZJE, researchers Wenwen Huang and Chaochen Wang, as well as faculty representatives from both institutions, participated in the signing and academic exchange activities.

 


The successful holding of this bilateral academic exchange marks the beginning of deepened cooperation between ZJE and the Faculty of Science at XJTLU. In the future, both sides will further explore cooperation avenues, strengthen collaboration in talent cultivation, scientific research, and build a bridge for communication between faculty and students, creating a stage for mutual strategic wins.
