On November 29, 2024, the Third Zijuan Youth Scholars Forum was successfully held in A203, ZJE Building, International Campus of Zhejiang University. The forum was organised by the Zhejiang University-University of Edinburgh Institute (ZJE), co-organised by the Life Science Institute of Zhejiang University (LSI) and the Peak Discipline Project of the School of Basic Medical Sciences of Zhejiang University. More than 100 faculty and students from the three institutions participated in the forum, and conducting in-depth exchanges and discussions on the theme of “Cell Biology and Beyond”. Professor Yuehai Ke, Dean of ZJE, and Professor Xin-Hua Feng, Dean of LSI, attended the forum and delivered opening speeches.
Nine faculty and students including Cunqi Ye from LSI, and ten faculty and students including Mikael Bjorklund from ZJE gave excellent presentations. ZJE and LSI faculty and students co-hosted the session.
The participants had an in-depth academic discussion on several hot frontier areas, such as membrane phospholipid synthesis and regulation, cell growth, sex chromosome evolution, etc., creating a lively academic atmosphere.
Zijuan Youth Scholars Forum is a branded academic activity established by ZJE to promote the exchange of excellent young medical talents between ZJE and Zhejiang University's internal and external research institutes. Previously, with the help of this brand activity, ZJE faculty and students had in-depth academic exchanges with the School of Basic Medical Sciences of Zhejiang University and the Liangzhu Laboratory respectively. Through the Zijuan Young Scholars Forum, ZJE faculty members have better integrated into the development of medicine and life sciences at Zhejiang University, and also contributed to the high-quality development of the university's related fields.
