2024 Annual Academic Conference

2025-01-15

On the afternoon of January 11, 2025, the 2024 Annual Academic Conference "BioMed-X Future" hosted by the Zhejiang University-University of Edinburgh Institute (ZJE) was grandly held at the Yuanzheng Qizhen Hotel in Zijingang Campus, Zhejiang University. Numerous experts and scholars gathered to summarize the research achievements of the past year and explore cutting-edge scientific issues.

Professor Yuehai Ke, the dean of ZJE, attended the meeting and delivered the opening speech. Researchers Wanlu Liu, Zhi Hong, and Alessandro Bonfini from ZJE presided over each session of the reports.

Prof. Jian Wu gave the first lecture, deeply analyzing the exploration and innovation of artificial intelligence in the medical field, bringing new perspectives and ideas to medical development. Dr. Di Chen focused on the key role of mitochondrial cytochrome C in the tissue-specific regulation of super-longevity in Caenorhabditis elegans, providing a new molecular mechanism for aging research. Prof. Dante Neculai focused on the regulation of lipid droplet homeostasis in liver cells, revealing the necessity of ATGL's S-acylation modification. Dr. Wenwen Huang expounded the design concept of smart protein hydrogels and their wide application prospects in the biomedical field. Prof. Linrong Lu  redefined antigen-specific regulatory CD8+ T cells, providing a new theoretical basis for immunological research and related disease treatment. Dr. Alessandro Bonfini explored the regulatory mechanism of intestinal homeostasis under the influence of infection and dietary factors. Prof. Long Zhang introduced the mechanism and intervention methods of cellular lactic acid sensing, providing new strategies for metabolic regulation and disease treatment. Dr. You Yu shared a report on chromosomal stability. Dr. Martin Kosar explored key scientific issues in the field of cell biology from the perspective of the role of nuclear pore complexes in cell signal transduction and the regulation of cancer-related gene expression.

The attendees listened attentively to the wonderful presentations of each reporter. During the interactive session, everyone actively raised their hands to ask questions. The reporters patiently answered each question and engaged in in-depth exchanges and discussions with the questioners, creating a strong academic atmosphere in the venue.

This Annual Academic Conference provided a platform for experts and scholars to exchange ideas and share achievements, enhancing the interaction between ZJE and Zhejiang University School of Medicine and the Life Sciences Institute Zhejiang University, promoting the cross-disciplinary integration, and stimulating the vitality of scientific research innovation.
