Professor Zhiheng Xu from Zhejiang University Reveals Pathogenesis of Brain Diseases: From Microcephaly to Autism

On the afternoon of April 24, 2026, the 149th session of the Biomed-X Research Seminar of ZJE was successfully held in Room 2A-203, ZJE Building. Invited by Prof. Zhi Hong, Prof. Zhiheng Xu, Qiushi Distinguished Professor of Zhejiang University, delivered an academic report entitled “Pathogenesis of Brain Disorders – Microcephaly & Autism”.

Prof. Xu systematically explained the pathogenesis of microcephaly and autism. His team established multiple animal models and revealed core molecular mechanisms, proving that genetic and environmental factors together cause brain developmental diseases. The research provided new strategies for the prevention and treatment of microcephaly and new directions for autism research.

Teachers and students had in-depth discussions. Prof. Xu answered every question patiently, benefiting all the audience.
