From September 17 to 18, 2026, the MORPHING (Modelling human organ physiology in generative systems) Consortium Meeting, co-hosted by Zhejiang University - University of Edinburgh Institute (ZJE), ZJE Translational Hub and ZJE Cluster for Organoid Research and Translation, was held at Zhejiang University Haining International Campus. Focusing on the application of organoids, microphysiological systems and new approach methodologies (NAMs) in human disease drug discovery, the conference brought together multidisciplinary experts and scholars from universities, hospitals and biomedical enterprises to discuss cutting-edge interdisciplinary advances and translational pathways. Invited speakers including Hongwei Ouyang, Susan Welburn, Ehab Abouheif, Binzhi Qian and Min Zhou attended the meeting and put forward constructive suggestions on key issues in organoid research and translation.
Featuring 13 talks, one roundtable and interactive breakout sessions, the meeting bridged fundamental research, industrial translation and talent development. By bringing together work spanning liver, joint, skin and lung organoids, it opens new prospects for precise and effective therapeutic strategies. Building on this event, ZJE will continue advancing organoid science through its laboratories and expanding global collaborative networks.
