Overview
Our 4 Year Dual award PhD in Integrative Biomedical Sciences programme will equip students with the distinct skills required to bridge the knowledge gap between the design, execution and interpretation of fundamental research and the challenges of translating this knowledge in medicine. The programme focuses on training students to align cutting-edge experimental modelling, cellular, regenerative, computational, genetic technologies and analytical tools with comprehensive knowledge of the translational environment.
By 'Training to Translate', this programme draws on unique research strengths in biomedical sciences from The University of Edinburgh and Zhejiang University. As evidenced by our recent award of the 2018 Education Institutional Partnership of the Year, we have established an international research institute that builds on the existing strengths of our institutions and aims to foster further collaboration in teaching and research.
Upon successful completion of the programme, you will have the opportunity to be awarded a PhD degree in Integrative Biomedical Sciences from both the University of Edinburgh and Zhejiang University.
Programme Structure
The programme provides taught components bearing both University of Edinburgh and Zhejiang University credits in years 1-3 which aims to benefit the growth and all-round development of our doctoral students. The taught courses include:
Year | Courses |
1 | Biomedical Disorders 1 |
1 | Biomedical Research Training |
1 | Grant Application |
2 | Biomedical Disorders 2 |
3 | Biomedical Disorders 3 |
Training and Support
The dual award PhD in Integrative Biomedical Sciences is a training programme focused on common human diseases, the goal of which is to advance knowledge, expertise and skills by bridging the gap between fundamental biomedical science discoveries through to translation in medicine.
